#AmericasGP: “Confidence and optimism further increased”
The 23-year-old MotoGP™ rider from Germany has fuelled lots of self-confidence and enthusiasm last time in Argentina.
So, Folger heads very relaxed and euphoric into this weekend’s round three at the series visit to the United States in Texas. But it was not only his sixth place two weeks ago in South America but rather the fact that he and his crew in Monster Yamaha Tech 3 were working specifically on his weak points at this time and in doing so they achieved good progress. Folger delivered a strong race from the start till the chequered flag at the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo.
The Grand Prix of The Americas appeared for the first time in 2013 in the championship’s calendar. The enormous complex at the Circuit of The Americas, CoTA for short, inspired from the very first moment. Over the course of one lap, riders must deal with 20 corner to find the right line in order for fast lap times. This layout is probably one of the most varied of all race tracks.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (Monster Yamaha Tech 3, Yamaha YZF-M1), World Championship position 6 (16 points):
“The Austin Grand Prix is a very special challenge every time. The track is that huge and it is very demanding physically wise, but I like it. In addition, I like the track’s varying layout a lot and mostly I did well here so, I’m able to head relaxed into the upcoming race weekend. I’m really looking forward to the Texas round particularly after the good weekend we had in Argentina recently. We have learned a lot there overall.
“However, the areas where we improved most were myself. In addition, we have made very important progress with regard starting into a race. Therefore, I will take all these positive things with me to the CoTA in Texas and I’m sure that we will make further progress here and will collect a great number of points at the end of the weekend, just like we did in Termas de Río Hondo last time. I feel very comfortable with my bike and we are all happy that the next race will go underway this weekend. After the strong result in Argentina, my optimism and confidence increased a lot. In any case, I can’t hardly wait to ride my Yamaha again, especially at this great circuit in Austin.”
