#ArgentinaGP: “Río Hondo is one of my favourites”
The 23-year-old astonishingly MotoGP™ rookie targets encouraging goals for this weekend’s round two of the series as he wants to eradicate his weak points from the Qatar race.
Despite of somewhat of a chaotic trip to the northern part of the South American country, Folger heads into the second race this year with a good feeling. After sensational performances during pre-season testing, the Yamaha rider also impressed during practice days at the season opener in Qatar two weeks ago. During the race, however, somewhat of a too defensive ride in the initial stage prevented him to finish better than in tenth position. But his pace by halfway point of the distance confirmed again that Folger has long since arrive in the premier league of two wheels racing.
The Gran Premio de la República Argentina saw his comeback to the World Championship calendar back in 2014. The Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo is located in a spa region in the isolated northern part of Argentina. The 4.8 kilometres long track enjoys high popularity amongst all riders of the three classes.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (Monster Yamaha Tech 3, Yamaha YZF-M1), World Championship position 10 (6 points):
“I liked the Río Hondo circuit since the very first time racing there. The track’s layout suites my riding and above all, it provides lots of fun. Of course, my last year’s podium finish in third place increases the anticipation for this race even more. But after the first race in Qatar, I’m still more hot to jump on my Yamaha again because my pace last time in Losail gives an incredible boost and additional motivation. It showed, that we are already pretty much competitive.
“In addition, I know that I’m able to improve myself a lot. This means mainly the start and the opening laps. If I’m able to manage these things as quickly as possible, then definitely is more possible than in the Qatar race. Apart from that, I’m very excited how things will go this weekend because this track is somehow a new to me. In any case, I look forward to the Argentina Grand Prix though the trip to there is often a big adventure. Also, this time it didn’t go everything according to plan. But this kind of story is long ago history as soon action starts again on Friday morning with the first practice session.”
