Australian GP: “Could have done better”

  • 22.10.2016

The 23-year-old German Moto2 rider made good progress during Saturday’s qualifying but his final time attack for a front row start was disturbed by another rider.

The 45-minute-long qualifying was the very first session this weekend which was run in completely dry track conditions. But after the changeable weather till Saturday afternoon it wasn’t an easy task for riders and teams to adapt to these changed circumstances. However, Jonas Folger and his crew did a good job to tackle this hurdle in order to prepare for Sunday’s round 16 and also he achieved a good starting position with sixth spot on the grid.

Starting time for the Moto2 race is scheduled for Sunday after lunch time at 2.20 pm local time which means 5.0 am CET.

#94 Jonas FOLGER (Dynavolt Intact GP, KALEX), Grid position 6th – 1´34.245 (21/22):

“I’m not dissatisfied with this second row start. But I’m a bit annoyed that I was stopped by another rider shortly before the of practice time. I lost a lot of time due to this situation because otherwise I would have time for another lap and in doing so I could still have done better. The conditions during qualifying allowed to get faster and faster with each lap. Anyway, sixth spot on the grid is not a bad position to start into the race but the session itself didn’t went smoothly because of the strong winds which were unpredictable at some places. In addition, it was the first session in dry conditions this weekend. after all these wet sessions it wasn’t an easy task to set up the bike properly rapidly. But in terms of our pace I’m confident that it could be a good race day for us.”
