British GP: Promising starting position in third row
onas Folger struggled with the tricky track layout throughout both days of practice but just right in time for qualifying he discovered the secrets of the fast line there.
Folger, who currently lies in seventh position in the world standing, mentioned already after Friday’s free practice sessions that he mainly has to keep working on himself in respect his riding at the 5.9 kilometres long Silverstone circuit. This intent was transformed successfully in fact now. At similar conditions like the previous day Folger studied his contenders diligently to find his way through sector one of the track.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (AGR Team, Kalex), Grid position 7th – 2´07.010 (13/16):
“Overall, I’m happy with today’s qualifying as well with seventh position for tomorrow’s grid. But it was hard for me to set decent lap times during the early stages of the session when I was in P18, P19 or something like that for a while. The problem was that I struggled in sector one all weekend long before I got the opportunity to follow Tito (Rabat) for some laps this morning and in doing so I discovered the secrets of this part and how to ride there. But till that point I didn’t find any speed so I lost up to six tenth just in T1. I got a bit frustrated because I couldn’t find a solution but thanks to the laps behind Tito I’m really speedy meanwhile there. I hope that I saved it deeply in my mind in order to race there a fine line tomorrow too. Apart from that I’m pleased with my qualifying lap time too which is really strong even the gap increased up to six tenth compared to yesterday. Anyway, starting from third row is a promising position and the goal is simple said as I want to collect as many possible points from this race.”
