#BritishGP: Folger fighting to get well again
The German MotoGP™ rookie is still suffering from stomach flu which prevented him from fully exerting himself in Friday’s opening sessions at the British Grand Prix.
The 2017 British GP got underway under glorious summer weather, however, the sun did not shine for Jonas Folger. His state of health was clear to see from a distance: chalk-pale face and powerless on the bike. Friday, therefore, was almost an emergency program for him, so that he could save some energy for the weekend.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (Monster Yamaha Tech 3, Yamaha YZF-M1), FP1: P16 – 2´03.939 (14/14) / FP2: P19 – 2´02.580 (14/14):
“I do not feel well because for some days I have been suffering from stomach flu. So, I did not have enough power today. But, I’m glad that I was able to do some laps at all. I will try as hard as possible to be in better condition tomorrow and for the remainder of the weekend. Nevertheless, I’m confident that I will recover and then make a great step tomorrow.”
“Apart from this, we started with our schedule for this weekend as we made a short test with the new fairing today. I could see a difference, but we think this upgrade does not bring so much here in Silverstone. So, we will continue to work with it on another track. In addition, my opinion regarding the new regulation and proceedings for a bike swap during a flag-to-flag race is positive. The position of the bikes is of course still unfamiliar, as well as the Lollipop man, who now gives the sign for leaving the box. But it is definitely a reasonable solution.”
