Brno Ciruit: A welcome change
Especially because of some fine successes in the past and a positive test on Monday after the race at the Red Bull Ring, Jonas Folger is looking forward to the Czech GP in positive mood.
Usually the second weekend in August is the traditional date for the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic. But this year, round eleventh of the season slides back one week. This doesn’t matter the ambitious Jonas Folger as he’s looking forward to get back to one of his favourite tracks anyway.
The 5.4 kilometres’ circuit at the Automotodrom Brno is fitting well into the undulating landscape in the outskirts of Brno. Many elevation changes and fast changes of direction determine the track’s layout. Starting time for the race is Sunday at 12:20am. The distance leads over 20 laps.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (Dynavolt Intact GP, KALEX) – World Championship position 7th (83 points):
“Our test last Monday in Spielberg was in general very pleasant, even if it was a shame we had to pack up early because of the rain. However, during the short practice time we were able to improve the turning to enable myself to hold a better line. In addition, the tests with different settings to the fork were very good, likewise with the softer tyre. During the weekend before we used nearly all the time the type No. 4, because we were not able to get some decent lap times with the other option. Changes to the shock were helpful in this regard. Anyway we found solutions for all these problems. But Brno is a completely different track regarding the characteristics. But anyway I’m really looking forward to the race in the Czech Republic, especially because we were riding many times at the Red Bull Ring last time out. First for the test end of July, afterwards the race weekend and in the end again during the test on Monday. A change regarding a different race track is really welcome. Apart from this I really like the fast and flowing track layout in Brno. Next to my win four years ago and the third place in 2014 in the Moto3 class, the last two years in Moto2 went pretty well. Last year I finished in sixth. Brno is always a lot of fun and maybe I’ll get along better in Brno than last time out in Spielberg. In any case we’ll start the weekend with the basis after the test on Monday. Regarding turning it will bring some advantages for sure.”
