#CatalanGP Post-race Test: Everything achieved during testing
A one-day test on Tuesday after the race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya was also part of Jonas Folger’s return to racing.
After last Sunday’s exhausting race in hot conditions, Jonas Folger could only relax for one day. Already on Tuesday the engines of the Moto2™ class were wrooming again at the Montmelo located track. For this test, Folger and his crew had to work out a comprehensive schedule. But the 25-year-old German inspired his technicians throughout the day with a determined approach and technically adept statements, so that at the end of the day all points were successfully completed. The conditions, however, were much more challenging as it is getting hotter every day in the northeast of Spain.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (PETRONAS Sprinta Racing, KALEX):
“On Sunday, there occurred some problems during the race. Therefore, it was very important to have this test. Also, this opportunity came in handy for me to get used to the bike and the tyres. We did more than 75 laps. That was also the main reason to collect as many kilometres as possible. There were also new Dunlop tyres to test which will come into use for the next races in the near future. That was really an interesting task. In the end, however, we concentrated on refining my riding as well as for the bike’s set-up with the front tyre of the type no. 1 and type no. 3 at the rear. That was already in view of the next race in Assen.”
“All in all, it was an enormously helpful day. We gained a lot of information and insights. I learned a lot too, which I will try to implement at Assen. But the main thing was to increase the consistency and rhythm with every exit. In the end, we were able to improve our lap time by half a second compared to the weekend, as well as the pace overall. From that point of view, we’ve achieved everything what we had set ourselves for this test. We’re all very happy. Hopefully we can continue like this at Assen and improve our performance. Anyway, I’m already looking forward to my next race in a week.”
