Durchwachsener Freitag beim San Marino GP
Jonas Folger started out with the third fastest lap time into the round 13 of the season on Friday morning until a test with the gearing went wrong.
Perfect track conditions and nice weather delivered optimal conditions for day one of practice at the Italian Misano World Circuit. Like all other riders Folger liked the new track surface of the 4.2 kilometres long circuit close to Rimini. But about his own performance during FP2 this afternoon he was less enthusiastic.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (AGR Team, Kalex) FP1: 3rd: – 1´38.124 (19/19) / FP2: 17th – 1´38.456 (11/20):
“A streaky start into the weekend. I don’t find any other word for this situation. In general FP1 this morning went very promising, but the second session it was opposite as it went pretty wrong. We tried a different gearing, which didn’t work out. In addition this test affected the bike too, because it was too short for the requirements of this track. I wasn’t able to race my speed in turning as well to hold my lines. Beyond that we saved tyres for tomorrow which means that we went out this afternoon we used tyres from the morning session. But the main issue was that we lost the balance of the bike, because there is too much weight on the rear now. The consequence was that I missed the feeling for the front in order to keep my lines as usual. Next to our problems the track conditions are excellent thanks to the new surface. This track has never been in a condition like this. However, our gap to the top guys isn’t that big and due to the fact that some other riders put in a new tyre for fast lap time, I think we shouldn’t too worried about almost seven tenth of a second. Anyway, I’m sure that we’ll be able to set this time with new tyres tomorrow too, but before we have to setup the bike more balanced and to find a better gearing. Nevertheless I’m confident for qualifying to be able to achieve a good starting position.”
