#DutchGP: Full attack with original setting

  • 29.06.2019

Jonas Folger and his crew unfortunately weren’t able to implement the good progress from free practice sessions during qualifying.

The ongoing heat in large parts of Europe has also reached the northern part of the Netherlands now. By noon on Saturday at the latest, temperatures became hot at Assen’s historic TT Circuit. Jonas Folger, however, previously started into day two of practice with a promising performance. Although he didn’t quite reach his personal goal, setting low 1´37s lap times, today’s FP3 was another success on his return to racing. In the afternoon, during the time attack, which was decisive for the starting grid, he couldn’t further improve due to a less optimal setting of his bike. Folger finished 23rd after the two qualifying sessions. Due to another rider’s penalty, he now moves forward one position on the starting grid.

#94 Jonas FOLGER (PETRONAS Sprinta Racing, KALEX), Grid position 22nd – 1´38.063 (5/9):

“Our day started so well with good progress during FP3. But then, we took a step backwards during qualifying because for Q1 we went in the wrong direction regarding to the bike’s set-up. Of course, that’s a pity and shouldn’t happen. But even more disappointing is the fact that our lap time was slower in our time attack than it was this morning. So, we screwed up qualifying by ourselves. On the other hand, we know how to set up the bike now. In this respect, we’ll use tomorrow’s warm-up to get back to that setting that suits best for me. Also, the gear ratio now fits perfectly. Nevertheless, it’s annoying to have to start far down the order again. We would have been capable of doing a lot better. However, in the race I’m not allowed to make the same mistake as in Barcelona, furthermore I’ve to assert myself more energetically right from the start and make up as many positions as possible during the opening laps.”
