#GermanGP: Sachsenring spectacle begins with a bang – fastest in FP1
During Friday’s free practice sessions, Jonas Folger was the surprise man at his home race.
Friday at the Motorcycle Grand Prix Deutschland started with a festival in blue-white. Posting fastest lap time during FP1, Jonas Folger underlined that he is on the best way back to his old strength. To end up in P1 after this morning’s opening session didn’t come from elsewhere, however, as he was able to put in a series of highly competitive lap times together with his buddy Marcel Schrötter during the final stage of the 40-minutes long session. Finishing the second session of the day in P13, he and his crew in the PETRONA Sprinta Racing team managed to confirm that they’ve to be on the list for the remaining weekend.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (PETRONAS Sprinta Racing, KALEX), FP1: P1 – 1´24.354 (17/21) / FP2: P13 – 1´24.620 (20/21):
“Of course, I’m more than satisfied with this start into my home race. To top the time sheet of a session is always a boost. But most of all I’m happy that we had two good and balanced practice sessions today. In the afternoon, we were mostly riding with used tyres. Nevertheless, our lap times were consistent and very decent too. That was the confirmation for us that we’re on the right way in terms to set up the bike. I think our strategy we’ve set ourselves for this weekend have worked out well so far. We’re working very focussed and we’ve come up with a good plan. After these performances I’m already looking forward to tomorrow. Hopefully the conditions will remain stable so that we can continue in this way.”
