GP Americas: To make up ground in the championship

  • 07.04.2016

Thanks to his first podium this season last Sunday, Jonas Folger gained further confidence to be even stronger mentality wise.

Even though in great form, the 22-year-old Moto2 rider from Germany look forward to this weekend’s Grand Prix of The Americas with somewhat of mixed emotions. Last year, Folger arrived in Texas leading the championship after his sensational win at the opening round for which he most probably put too much pressure on himself. Subsequently he didn’t found a calm and flowing rhythm for the such as demanding Texas circuit. However, meanwhile the situation changed a lot as Folger and his new team Dynavolt Intact GP display themselves in great and consistent from since this season went underway back in early February. Pole position in Qatar and a clever ride to third place last Sunday highlighted his campaign so far. Folger, who finished sixth overall last year, eyes for this weekend in Austin to make up further ground in the world standings.

The FIM MotoGP™ World Championship visit just for the fourth time Texas this weekend, but since the inaugural Grand Prix of The Americas back in 2013 the event has settled well in the series calendar because not just only due to the ultramodern facilities at the amazing Circuit of The Americas.

#94 Jonas FOLGER (Dynavolt Intact GP, KALEX) – World Championship position 9 (16 points):

“We had a good and smooth onward trip to Texas and I really look forward to the grand prix in Austin now. I also found some days to relax after the demanding weekend in Argentina. Termas de Rio Hondo was a good weekend for us overall, though we first struggled a bit because of the conditions. However, we did a great job as a team again and we were able to improve with every session. In addition, we solved our weak points step by step. And in doing so this exactly must be our goal for the Texas round too. But foremost, I’ve to find out the secrets for a fast and flowing rhythm for this demanding circuit at the COTA. Just then it makes sense to start working on the bike’s setup. But I’m confident because I can count on a great crew behind me with whom I work so well together and we were able to find solutions quickly every time, if we stuck in with a niggling problem elsewhere. This all gives me a lot of confidence to do well again this weekend. But foremost I look forward to day one of practice how I find myself riding at the COTA.“
