GP Americas: Light and shadow on Friday
After a strong opening session this morning, day one of practice ended with a disappointment for Jonas Folger.
After Folger’s performance during FP1 it was to suspect that he was able to adapt quickly to the truly track at the amazing Circuit of The Americas as he struggled with the layout last time in 2015. The Kalex rider was in the lead during the early stages and after the six fastest lap time, expectations for the second session rose up. However, Folger wasn’t able to find a calm and flowing rhythm during FP2 this afternoon.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Kalex) – FP1: P6 – 2´10.727 (15/15) / FP2: P11 – 2´10.772 (10/14):
“Obviously it was a great start this morning which was good for my confidence, to lead this session for a while. Overall, FP1 was ok, not only due to that fact that I set my best lap time ever at this circuit. But during the afternoon session it was really tough for me to continue in the same way. We made some changes to the bike after which I felt really comfortable although I wasn’t able to improve my lap time from this morning. In addition, I missed my consistency in comparison to FP1 too. From this point of view, I did something wrong. We’ve to look at the data now what exactly happened. In any case is a difficult job if things went like this during the opening day.”
