  • 23.09.2016

Jonas Folger displayed an impressive performance during Friday’s first practice sessions. After second fastest rider in FP1 he concluded the day with fourth fastest lap time in the combined practice times.

The championship’s round 14 got underway in fine weather even some cloudy skies appeared in the afternoon but most important it remained dry also during FP2. On the other side, the track’s conditions at the 5.1 kilometres long MotorLand Aragón circuit were not at its best which was clearly to see in respect to today’s lap times. However, Jonas Folger didn’t take care about all these circumstances to deliver a promising start to the weekend. The KALEX rider in the German Dynavolt Intact GP outfit delivered two consistent strong sessions whereas during the afternoon run he and his crew mainly were working on race pace for Sunday’s competition in Aragón.

Moto2 action at the Gran Premio de Aragón resumes on Saturday morning with a 45-minutes long FP3 in order for the last preparation for the all-important qualifying which decides Sunday’s grid.

#94 Jonas FOLGER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Kalex), FP1: P2 – 1´53.818 (16/17) / FP2: P7 – 1´54.054 (4/16):

“Second fastest lap time this morning was a pleasant start into the weekend for sure. I had a great feeling with the bike straight away but obviously we’re still looking for more rear grip. FP2 in the afternoon went gratifying too. We just used one tyre all session long which in the end last more than a race distance. Therefore, it was very clearly that it was impossible to improve lap times in the later stages of the session. During FP2 it was my first exit which was the best one in the afternoon but then we made some changes to the bike which didn’t work out. So we went back to the previous setting and the feeling was there again. But because of the already quite used tyre it wasn’t possible to make further progress in terms of lap times. Apart from that, we’re sure that some of our competitors put in a new tyre towards the end of the session because a dropped down the order for more or less five positions. But we didn’t let stressed by this because I think, that we’re already moving in the right direction for the remaining weekend here in Aragón.”
