GP Catalunya: Target for Barcelona to comeback at the front
After two difficult race weekends in France and Italy most recently, Jonas Folger targets for this weekend’s Gran Premi de Catalunya to return at the fierce end of the competition.
A private test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya end of April and also the official post-race test at Mugello after Grand Prix boosts the 22-year-old German Moto2 to legitimate hopes. However, the most important fact is that Folger immediately got back his feeling with the bike and conditions during the Mugello test on Monday in the previous week. In addition, this test has brought further positive findings after several tests with different settings and new development parts brought by suspension supplier Ohlins. In 2015, Folger started from the front row and finished the Barcelona race in seventh position.
After the classic in Italy, the Gran Premi de Catalunya to mark the next highlight of the 18 races including calendar. The championship’s visit to the northern part of Spain is not only due to the close location to Catalonia’s capitol a well-visited event. Beyond that, riders and fans enjoy the 4.7 kilometres long circuit and atmosphere in the same way.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (Dynavolt Intact GP, KALEX) – World Championship position 7th (48 points):
“I’m highly motivated for Barcelona Grand Prix because there is a lot to catch up. But most of all, after this unexpected difficult weekend at Mugello I look for a turnaround of our situation. However, I’m confident that we’ll find our normal form in Barcelona and fight at the front again. We had a successful test there five weeks ago and the Mugello test after the race has brought further positive findings too. In comparison to the weekend I was able to lap a consistent high pace with fast lap times at this opportunity. But most important, the feeling was back which I missed during the grand prix. Into the bargain in very different conditions than during days of practice and on race day. So for this I’m confident that we’ll find our form again and return to that level at which we already where and where we belong. This of course is the target for this weekend’s round seven in Barcelona where the track suits my riding style.“
