GP d’Italia: Expectations are high for the season’s classic

  • 19.05.2016

Jonas Folger to head with a lot of anticipation and high expectations into this weekend’s round six in Italy’s Tuscany region.

The up-to-date and picturesque Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello surrounded by the green treed magnificent Tuscany landscape does speak for itself. But it’s not only Jonas Folger’s favourite venue in the calendar though it’s a welcome visit to Italy for all parties involved in the World Championship. In case of the 22-year-old German Moto2 rider, there are some nice memories which make his anticipation higher for the championship’s round six. In 2013, he stormed for a front row start before Folger led the race for a long time but he finished in third place finally. However, after his nightmare adventure last time out in Le Mans, Folger heads even more determined into this weekend’s tasks in order to make up as many points as possible in the championship.

The famous Autodromo Internazionale de Mugello is located approximately 30 kilometres northeast of Florence and all facilities as well the operating company belongs to the Ferrari group. Since 1992, the 5,4 kilometres fast and flowing circuit is the home of the Gran Premio d‘Italia.

#94 Jonas FOLGER (Dynavolt Intact GP, KALEX) – World Championship position 5th (47 points):

“After a difficult weekend for us last time in Le Mans it couldn’t happen nothing better than to head to Mugello for the Gran Premio d’Italia this weekend. I’m looking forward hugely to this race which is really special. I also like the track a lot and I think, this is the case for most of the riders. In addition, I like the landscape of the Tuscany too in which this circuit is located, that much beautiful. Again, the track is simply a hammer. It offers always a lot of fun to rider. But as said, I’m really glad that Le Mans is behind us and we keep going to Mugello. The track has a fast and flowing layout and I’m very confident that we’ll enjoy a much better weekend. Beyond that I’m sure that we’ll take more benefit from our productive Barcelona test later in April.“
