GP Valencia: To finish the championship in the top five
Before starting his MotoGP adventure next week, Jonas Folger has set a clearly goal for the season’s finale in Valencia.
After his strong third place in Malaysia two weeks ago, the 23-year-old German Moto3 will finish this year’s championship within the top five in the world standings. Folger currently lies in sixth position, just three points missing to Sam Lowes and tied with Japanese rider Takaaki Nakagami. Folger heads into the weekend with some sadness because the Valencia round marks his departure from the Dynavolt Intact GP outfit just after one year and also his last year’s visit to Spain’s third biggest city wasn’t necessarily successful. But even more pleasurably how things went during testing’s in the winter month at the Valencia circuit which provide some justified confidence, to achieve his season’s goal.
The Valencian Grand Prix, by the way the fourth race of the calendar in Spain, host the series’ finale for the 15th time already. The 4 kilometres long track, located approximately 30 kilometres outside the city of Valencia, is well-known to teams and riders because of many tests during the year.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (Dynavolt Intact GP, KALEX), WM-Position 6 (159 Punkte):
“Frankly, I’m going into the weekend with mixed emotions because actually it’s a pity that my time with the Intact team will finish after this race just after one year. We had a great year with lots of fun and always a good atmosphere in the team. But we also worked great together. So, for this a big thank you for everything they did for me during the last twelfth month and from my side, I’ll try and do everything to finish this season with a high note. I would like to say goodbye in style. In addition, it’s my goal to finish this season in the top five before a new chapter in my career starts next week. So, this means, I must collect four points more than Sam and to finish the race in front of Taka. I think, this is a realistic goal not only because Valencia is a track which suits my riding. Last year’s weekend in Valencia wasn’t particularly exhilarating but during our winter tests I was always fast there. I look forward to the season’s finale, even if a bit melancholy is there.”
