#IDMSuperbike: Third event of the season with another double victory done
Also, at the Lausitzring which was unknown to Jonas Folger until this weekend, it was impossible to stop the flying Yamaha rider from winning.
Pole position, two race wins and twice the fastest race lap, that’s Jonas Folger’s proud summary after the Lausitzring weekend. In the first race Folger even managed to do what he could not achieve in the second qualifying on Saturday afternoon. With an impressive 1’37.754, he not only stayed below the 1’38 mark, but foremost set a new lap record at the 4.25 km long circuit in German’s state of Brandenburg at his very first appearance there. In the second race it took only three laps until Folger led the competition after coming from ninth spot on the starting grid.
For Jonas Folger and his MGM Yamaha Racing Team, a special task awaits them next weekend, when the winning team will start as a wildcard entry at the Superbike World Championship race in Barcelona.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (Bonovo action powerd by MGM Racing, Yamaha YZF R1), P1 / P1:
“I am incredibly happy. It was not a matter of course that we would perform as strongly this weekend as we did at the first two IDM events in Assen and at the Sachsenring. The Lausitzring is not an easy track for a newcomer, especially since the team also had little useful data. So, I am mega happy that we were able to win both races anyway. Above all, I am happy about the victory in race two. Because of the reversed starting order, I was not sure that I could end up at the front again. Therefore, it was almost a perfect weekend for us again. For the first time on Saturday we had to deal with slight difficulties but in the end everything went well.”
“After three consecutive double victories in IDM, I am now looking forward to the challenge of WorldSBK at Barcelona. I am already looking forward to the level of this championship as well as I am itching to ride the Yamaha Superbike according to WorldSBK regulations. But first I would like to enjoy our success and thank the whole team for their great work. They always try hard, but this weekend their efforts in terms of electronics settings were particularly commendable. Our cooperation is now exemplary in every respect, but without their dedication, we certainly would not been able to achieve these successes in a row. In a week’s time, however, we’ll have to deliver a decent performance in Barcelona and then hopefully we can strike again at the IDM season finale in Hockenheim to round off this extraordinary season perfectly.”
