Jonas Folger: “The best years of my career till now”
Jonas Folger wasn’t able to conclude the 2015 season finale in Valencia in style as he crossed the line in a disappointing 14th position this Sunday; he wanted to have a far better farewell to his AGR team.
In fantastic weather conditions and in front of sold out grandstands around the Valencia Circuit the Moto2 class went for their points hunt for the very last time this year at lunchtime. Because of an accident during the opening lap the race had to be red flagged and re-started. Jonas Folger was able to bring back his bike into the pit box without any consequences after the crash of some riders in turn two. His crew used the short break to do some big changes on his bike. In general, they changed too much with the setup, which is why the 22-year-old wasn’t able at any time to get some confidence with his machine at least. Because of this, the season finale and the farewell race for his Spanish AGR team ended in a disappointment. Thanks to two championship points for P14, he was at least able to secure the sixth position in the general standings.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (AGR Team, Kalex) – 14th, World Championship position 6 (163 points):
“I had definitely different plans to finish the season and the farewell to my AGR team than this outcome. However, the race went disappointing from the start to the finish line. We did many changes today, during the Warm-Up and during the break until the start of the race and some more before the re-start. Every time the steps were pretty big and unfortunately they had a negative impact on the bike. This was the reason why I wasn’t able to get a good feeling with the bike and for these conditions. It was incredible complicated to arrive in the points in general. As I said, I had definitely different plans for today. Nevertheless, the race is over and the season is over too. During the last two years, I had an amazing time with this team, which I’ll never forget. I would even say the last two years were the best of my career in general. So a huge thanks to all team members for this fantastic time, most of all Carlos Arginano and all the sponsors as well as to my great crew; many thanks, I had a very, very great time with you. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to get some better results at the finale.”
