It was the biggest news in the paddock at Le Mans today, which hosts round five of the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship this weekend, that Jonas Folger official announced that he will change category from next season on. Folger signed an agreement today which sees him racing in MotoGP aboard a Yamaha M1 for the experienced Tech 3 team in 2017. The contract includes an option for another year.

#94 Jonas FOLGER:
“Obviously it’s a big moment for me because it’s every rider’s dream to make the step into MotoGP one day. So I’m really happy and already so excited about next year. In addition, I’m thankful to Yamaha, Tech 3 and Herve Poncheral to believe in me and give me this great opportunity to become a MotoGP rider. To make this decision early during the season I think it came to the right time because I’m able now to focus just on this year’s campaign in Moto2 were I aiming high. Again I must admit that I’m very grateful to all people involved which means also to my current team Dynavolt Intact GP where I feel so great and receive the best possible support to perform in that great way. A big thank you also goes to all sponsor who stuck by me all these years at least since I’m racing in world championship.“
