Malaysia GP: Yet again a great start to the weekend

  • 23.10.2015

Jonas Folger has shown his strenght again; after the best marker this morning, he concluded Friday at Sepang as second fastest overall.

Subtropical conditions in the southeast of Asia are demanding in general. That was the reason why Folger needed a bit of time to adapt himself to it, though he managed it impressively when finishing the first practice on top of the timesheets. At the time of the second session this afternoon, conditions were even more challenging for riders and times which was clearly underlined by the lap times as not every rider was able to improve on his FP1 best marker. Beyond that, the 22-year-old Kalex rider hat to run with used tyres mostly.

#94 Jonas FOLGER (AGR Team, Kalex) FP1: 1. – 2´07.720 (14/15) / FP2: 6. – 2´08.223 (9/15):

“Well, it was a strong start to the weekend for us again even though it wasn’t easy to get used to adapt riding in these conditions this morning. But it took no longer time to adapt to it as the result has shown. However, in the afternoon, I felt more comfortable at all but it was hard to improve because we started the session with new tyres of both options brought by Dunlop for this race so during the latter stages we had to run with the used one whereas the main competitor went out on a new tyre for sure. Beyond that we tried some different changes to bike which has brought some positive things, mainly in respect of rear grip. But at the same time we lost a bit the feeling for the front due to some chattering during the slower corners. Nevertheless, I’m pretty confident that we will find a solution for it until tomorrow’s all-important qualifying and also from my side, there must come a step because I was pushing and riding too much aggressively today. I think if I’m capable of riding more smoothly than the times will come automatically. In any case, we know that our speed is there which I think it is underlined well. Everything looks promising thus far.”
