Pre-season ends at washed out Jerez

Bad weather conditions hampered Jonas Folger and his AGR Team to make further progress on its machinery but he remains confident for start of the season

Teams and riders were accompanied by heavy downpours, strong winds and cold temperatures during their final season preparations this week at the southern Spain located Circuito de Jerez. Due to that circumstances Jonas Folger couldn’t took the famous track for testing for any longer time as during Wednesday morning’s session when the tarmac dried out. Anyway, the ambitious German youngster look forward to the start of the championship in confident mood as he build on a proper base setup for his Kalex bike for all conditions, worked out during a previous three day test at Jerez in February.

The 18 races comprehensive FIM Moto™ World Championship gets underway in one week’s time with its already traditional opener with the Grand Prix of Qatar. Practice sessions and the race will be held in the later evening hours which will once again provide an outstanding spectacle under the floodlight at the Losail International Circuit.

#94 Jonas FOLGER (AGR Team, Kalex) – 1´45.207 (Day 2, Session 1 / 22 laps in total):

“In this year we haven’t had luck with the weather at all during pre-season testing. Hopefully it changes with the first race. After the official test in Valencia last month again we had to sit out two days of testing this time here at Jerez due to the really bad conditions. With this short time to the start to the championship we wanted not risk anything. So from this point of view there isn’t much to say about the final season preparations. In fact it is a pity because we couldn’t try anything during these three days. I just went out on track during one session when Wednesday morning the conditions were at its best although I could ride with slicks only for ten laps. During this short time there is no way to work on setting or something special. So once again we did a long trip for nothing. But fortunate the previous test in Jerez last month went pretty well for us. We were able to work hard there and use track time to our utmost with the tasks to work a lot on a well-balanced base setup for the new Kalex machinery and for this reason I think we’re well prepared for the first race. However, some further laps in dry conditions would have been good in order to do some fine tuning on the setting. Anyway, after this disaster I want only one thing, namely to go to Qatar and race there on a different track. I really look forward to the season opener in one week’s time.“
