TT Assen: “I’ve to improve on Saturday”
Jonas Folger wasn’t entirely happy about his start into the DutchGP at the historic TT Circuit in Assen.
Following the heat during the previous days, heavy overnight rain was the reason for significantly cooler temperatures on Friday when the 2016 edition of the historic TT Assen got underway. However, till this morning’s FP1 started, the track’s condition was completely dry again so all teams and riders took their first preparation with slick tyres and dry settings. Jonas Folger was a main protagonist throughout the 45 minutes long session before he concluded it with the fifth fastest lap time. Meanwhile, conditions improved for the second session in the afternoon as the sun sometimes came out so it wasn’t a surprise to see a faster pace overall. The German Moto2 rider in Dynavolt Intact GP was able to find three tenth during this session but he wrapped up Friday in tenth position overall.
Folger’s target is now to improve in the slower parts of the Assen track in order to be on a more competitive level for Saturday’s qualifying which is to decide the starting grid.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (Dynavolt Intact GP, Kalex) – FP1: P5 – 1´38.902 (15/17) / FP2: P10 – 1´38.678 (5/15):
“Actually, it wasn’t anything else than an optimal start to the weekend. The track’s condition wasn’t the problem due to the high humidity after the heavy rain last night as the grip level was good. But foremost I struggled in the first and last part of the track. In these sections I must improve my riding. But also my team try and look for solutions to help me in this respect. P10 after day one is definitely not the result I’m looking for. So I must improve on Saturday.”
