Second row start in South America
Jonas Folger made a great comeback amongst to top riders in the highly competitive Moto2 category with a super strong start into the weekend on Friday morning before he displayed again his form in qualifying practice.
After the Kalex rider qualified for 6th position for tomorrow’s Moto2™ Gran Premio de la Republica Argentina, Folger will start from a well-promising spot on the grid. However, it wasn’t an easy achievement for the German youngster because he missed important top speed along the main straight at the Termas de Rio Hondo track. Nevertheless, Folger remains confident for Sunday’s third race of the season.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (AGR Team, Kalex), Grid position 6th – 1´43.384 (17/20):
„Thus far it is a really good weekend and I feels that much good to have the feeling with the bike again. I’m really happy with this second row start for tomorrow though, it was a very tough day for us. A view on the top speed ranking show’s a nightmare. We’re lacking too much in top speed which is the reason that we lose up to two, three tenth in sector two, particularly therefore on the long straight we face a massive disadvantage. So during tomorrow morning’s warm up session we’ll try a new exhaust which hopefully will solve this problem part wise. But overall I’m happy with my performance today as our yesterday’s plan to safe tyres for qualifying practice worked out well. Even though I couldn’t match my lap time from this morning, due to more wind and the more hot temperatures, as well concerning less top speed, we did a good job this afternoon. Thanks to my crew for their effort all time. The target for the race is just to try and do the best to gain a point scoring finish, at least to keep our position after qualifying. It should be possible follow the group in the slipstream so I think we’re able to fight for a top six position. But to collect as many as possible points is the most important thing.”
