Due to technical issues, Jonas Folger had to retire the second main race in England prematurely.
After a mixed Saturday, all hopes rested on a conciliatory conclusion to the fourth WorldSBK round at Donington Park. With a little more confidence, Jonas Folger started Sunday with 16th place in a dry warm-up this morning.
A brief rain shower right before the start of the Superpole race caused changed track conditions again. Folger opted for rain tyres, whereas the majority of the top-class Superbike World Championship field switched to intermediates still on the starting grid. During this ten-lap sprint race, the 27-year-old BMW rider made up a few positions after starting from P20 and eventually crossed the line in 16th place.
In the second main race in the afternoon, dry conditions prevailed once again, and Folger started optimistically from seventh row. Unfortunately, after only six of the 23 laps, the second race was over due to a technical problem.

“Donington was a difficult weekend. Once again, it is hard for me to find the right words. In Superpole race, the tyre choice was wrong, perhaps due to the general uncertainty. Unfortunately, the second main race was also very disappointing. I am very sorry for the entire team and of course for myself that we are in such a difficult situation. Although everyone is working incredibly hard and trying out many different things, we do not really have a solution at the moment. So, I am just sorry for everyone and of course I hope things will pick up soon.”
