WorldSBK rookie Jonas Folger is eagerly anticipating the FIM Superbike World Championship’s visit to the Czech Republic this weekend for special reasons.
Due to the ongoing uncertain situation, the World Championship round in northern Bohemia has slipped into the calendar late. Most is not just a familiar name to many amateur racers. Just recently, German IDM Superbike championship pitched its tents there to stage round two of the 2021 campaign. For most of the teams and riders in WorldSBK, however, the circuit which is just a stone’s throw from the Bavarian border located, is completely new territory.
Jonas Folger, on the other hand, arrives with good track knowledge in Most, gained from several track days. This advantage and the feeling of riding practically on his own doorstep spur the 27-year-old German on. Most of all, however, the strong comeback in the top ten at Assen gives him a further boost. Until that nasty race crash on Saturday afternoon two weeks ago, Folger and his Bonovo Action / MGM Racing Performance team were shining with a pleasing rise in form.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (Bonovo Action / MGM Racing Performance, BMW M 1000 RR):
“Until the crash in the first race, Assen was actually a very pleasing weekend. We got back to our speed and hopefully we can continue this uphill trend now. However, there are still many things to confirm and next steps to take. Therefore, I cannot wait for the upcoming race weekend in Most to continue with our work. In addition, I am also looking forward to Most because it is practically another home race for me due to its proximity to my home. So, I hope that many German fans will take this opportunity to come and watch and cheer me on. Most is also new to the WSBK calendar, and every new track makes things more exciting every time, even though there are still a few critical spots along a lap despite adjustments.”
