On Sunday, Jonas Folger scored points for the second time for GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3 with a very good thirteenth place.
After what was not an easy weekend at the historic French race track in Le Mans, Jonas Folger started from the back of the high-profiled MotoGP™ grid on Sunday. Folger’s start was not the best, but the 29-year-old full-time MotoGP test rider of the Pierer Mobility Group with KTM and GASGAS gradually found his pace and set very consistent lap times until the end. His final lap in 1’33.576 was his fastest of the weekend.
Folger finished the race in P13 after 27 exhausting laps and in doing so he scored further points for the team from the south of France. In his three appearances as a replacement for Pol Espargaro, he scored a total of seven points. For Folger, this weekend’s Grand Prix de France could be the last race weekend for the time being, because depending on whether or not Espargaro gets the green light from the doctors, the Spaniard could be return in Mugello Italy.

“I am happy to have scored some points today, although I was hoping for a better pace in the race. Somehow, I often have problems getting off to the right start with new tyres, but then I get faster towards the end, and that was the case again today. That is something I will work on during my next test and hopefully figure it out. Le Mans should have been the last Grand Prix working with the Tech3 team. So, I want to thank the whole team for making me feel so welcome. It was an honour to take this seat, it was nice to be back and everyone took really good care of me. A big thank you to Tech3 and last but not least congratulations to Augusto Fernandez for his strong fourth place today.”
