On Sunday in Hockenheim, Jonas Folger won the IDM Superbike 2020 with maximum points.

Jonas Folger came, saw and conquered. There are no other words to describe his impressive performance this year in the highest class of the International German Motorcycle Championship. Due to the drastically shortened season, the title win was only decided at the last race day at the famous Hockenheimring. After Folger did not put in all his maximum during qualifying sessions due to difficult conditions on Saturday and therefore had to settle for sixth place on the grid, the ranking was quickly restored in the races in dry weather. The 27-year-old rider from Mühldorf in Upper Bavaria also decided the last two races of the season to his favour in a superior manner.

#94 Jonas FOLGER (Bonovo action powered by MGM Racing, Yamaha YZF R1), P1 / P1:

“To be honest, I am a little bit overwhelmed. I had to wait an exceptionally long time for winning a title like this. So, I simply enjoy this incredibly beautiful moment even more now. It is not only a great day for me, but also for the entire team. Without their support and hard work, we would never have made it. Therefore, at this point I would like to thank everyone for their commitment. But first and foremost, I would like to thank team boss Michael Galinski and our main sponsor Jürgen Röder for giving me this opportunity. They gave me the chance for a serious comeback and this season should now be the base for the future.”

“After the difficult qualifying practice sessions due to the rainy weather yesterday, I was glad when the track started to dry out this morning. But then, in races everything went according to plan. I immediately had the same feeling as on Friday in free sessions when the conditions were dry. Finally, I did two flawless races and was able to bring home the title safely. But before the start of the championship I never thought that I would win all races. I am especially happy about this fact though; it is a pity that because of the bad weather on Saturday our fourth pole position was not possible. This is a dark spot in our otherwise flawless balance sheet. Nevertheless, a genuinely nice season in the IDM came to an end today. But I am already looking forward to my next challenges. But before that I would like to enjoy this championship win and hopefully then continue with the same team in another series. Thanks again to everyone who supported and helped us this year.”
