Rainy weather on Saturday in Hockenheim has somewhat clouded Jonas Folger’s immaculate qualifying record so far.

After Jonas Folger finished free practice sessions in dry conditions as fastest again, a change weather-wise last night was very inconvenient for him. At the less known Hockenheimring thus far, the 27-year-old Yamaha rider of the MGM Racing Team had a hard time finding a feeling for the slippery track. After three pole positions in a row, he had to settle for sixth place on the grid at the season’s finale. However, better weather prospects for Sunday make the exceptional rider confident as he does not want to give up the almost certain IDM Superbike championship title under any circumstances. The races will be shown as a live stream at the series’ Youtube channel.

#94 Jonas FOLGER (Bonovo action powerd by MGM Racing, Yamaha YZF R1), Grid position 6 - 1´43.701:

“At the end of this exceptional season, we honestly would have deserved better conditions for today’s qualifying sessions because it was crazy from start to finish today. At first only a few drops fell at some places before it started to rain more heavily later. I did not have a good feeling in the wet because I mainly did not understand the rain tyres how they work. On the other side, it was also the first time that I rode this bike in this configuration in wet conditions. This change was not easy for me. Furthermore, this track has truly little grip by nature, the surface is super slippery out there. In view of these circumstances, it would have taken more practice time to be able to try out more.”

“Nevertheless, it is a pity that we will not start from pole position this time again. It would have been part and parcel of the season’s finale. But I honestly have to admit that I did not want to risk too much because of these unusual conditions. Anyway, the weather should be better on Sunday again for which I am really hoping because mixed conditions in the decisive races would be the last thing we would need for our mission. Also, my feeling on Friday in the dry was particularly good. Anyway, we were fast and therefore I am confident that we will be able to get back to the front in normal conditions in any case. I am really looking forward to the last races of this season.”
