Jonas Folger was unable to get on his path in the main race of the season‘s classic in Italy and had to settle for 19th place at the line.
For Jonas Folger, who again stand in for Pol Espargaro at GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3 at the Gran Premio d’Italia, round six of the season, his fourth with the French based team, proved out to be more difficult than expected. Although the 29-year-old German rider is very familiar with the Mugello track, he only sometimes managed to reach his usual level this weekend.
After Saturday’s sprint he was a bit disappointed about lacking feeling on track and had hoped to find more confidence today. He started from the rear end of the field. When the lights went out at the start, Folger tried to keep up with the others right in front of him, but on the second lap a riding mistake cost him a lot of time and therefore he completely lost contact with the rest of the class. From then on, he was on his own, concentrating on himself and his pace, with the main goal of finishing the Grand Prix.

“Even though the weekend did not live up to my expectations, it was incredibly cool having been raced at Mugello once again. Today was also a difficult race for me. As I said yesterday, I had hoped to make some improvements. But the problems were the same as in the sprint, and they were compounded because the pace was a bit slower and there were difficult conditions towards the end. In any case, I learned a lot and we gathered a lot of information that we need to analyze with the engineers to fix these problems in my next tests. I hope that Pol Espargaro will be able to join the team next weekend at Sachsenring and I would like to take this opportunity to thank once again GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3, who welcomed me again with open arms.”
