The 27-year-old German rider will continue his cooperation with Team Bonovo action next year. However, his new race bike will be a BMW M 1000 RR.

For Jonas Folger, a new career chapter begins in 2021. After his superior title win in IDM Superbike this year, it was a big concern for him to return racing at world level again. For this goal, the ambitious athlete from Mühldorf am Inn in Upper Bavaria always had the Superbike World Championship in his sights. In this series, production race bikes with 1000ccm capacity are used.

Folger always wanted to make this step with his team and well-coordinated crew with which he impressively successful in IDM. Team Bonovo action is headed by team owner Jürgen Röder and team manager Michael Galinski and will be one of two satellite teams supported by BMW Motorrad Motorsport in WorldSBK in 2021.

A provisional race calendar will be published next week.

#94 Jonas FOLGER (Bonovo action, BMW M 1000 RR):

“I am overjoyed to be able to compete as a permanent entry in Superbike World Championship next year. At the same time, it is a great honour for me that BMW have chosen us, by which I mean Bonovo action, MGM Racing and myself, to build up a satellite team. I think this combination is very promising because we are going into our rookie season with great expectations and we have lots of plans with BMW. The overall package should be competitive, as the BMW Superbike is at a very high level and the new bike has been well developed. I hope that we will have our first test very soon.”

“Since the technology is completely new for us, we want to start on-track season preparations as soon as possible. In any case, the signing of the contracts is already the first big step for 2021. Therefore, I would like to express my thanks to BMW for their confidence in me, as well as to Jürgen Röder from Bonovo action and Michael Galinski from MGM Racing for their efforts to realise this project. Of course, my thanks also go to all the sponsors who have made their contribution to bringing this project to fruition. I am really looking forward to the new challenge and cannot wait until I get on my new bike for the first time.”
