After a 13th place in Superpole race, Jonas Folger finished just outside the points in the second main race of the Barcelona weekend.
Race-Sunday at the Circuito de Barcelona-Catalunya began for Jonas Folger and his German Bonovo Action / MGM Racing Performance Team in beautiful weather with 15th place in the warm-up.
Compared to the wet conditions of the previous day, the 28-year-old BMW rider got off to a slightly better start in the Superpole race. Folger started from 18th on the grid and finished the first lap in 17th place. From then on, he moved forward to 15th position, but the race was stopped. At the restart over a sprint distance of just five laps, Folger started from his previously earned 15th position and was able to make up further places until he saw the chequered flag in 13th place.
The second race of the day also contained some unforeseen events. After Folger had to avoid a crash in the first corner after the start and was forced to make the detour through the gravel in this process, he lost contact with the field. But also, in the afternoon was aborted on the second lap. At the restart, the BMW rider left the line from P18 on the grid and was able to work his way up to 16th position over the course of the 19 laps. Although he gave everything to still reach the points, he was two seconds off 15th place in the end.

“Once again it was a difficult Sunday for us. In Superpole race and in the second main race I had the same worries again. For everyone, grip conditions were the same. But for some reason we cannot get the rear suspension to work properly as we would like. The traction control is not easy to adjust. Either I have too much traction or I reduce it too much, then it is lacking everywhere. Things will not get harmonized right now. Unfortunately, we could not find anything today that would have helped us. But we will look at the data in detail so hopefully we can make some progress in Jerez.”
