#EstorilWorldSBK: Second Wildcard entry at World Superbike’s season finale

As newly crowned IDM Superbike Champion, Jonas Folger is preparing for a second guest appearance in the Superbike World Championship this weekend in Portugal.

Coming home in twelfth, tenth and eleventh place respectively, Jonas Folger attracted a great deal of attention when he made his debut in Superbike World Championship last month in Barcelona. In each race, the 27-year-old rider from Mühldorf in Upper Bavaria had to start from the very last spot on the starting grid, always passing the half of the field. These achievements were the base for giving him another opportunity to recommend himself in this series. The Circuito do Estoril, not far from Portugal’s capital Lisbon, only entered the series’ calendar at short notice.

He was also the driving force behind this second wildcard in a Superbike World Championship race. Therefore, I am incredibly grateful and overjoyed that I have another chance to recommend myself in this series now. I am really looking forward to riding again at Estoril. I know the track from my early years in 125 cc World Championship. But now I am curious to see if anything has changed since then and what it is like to ride a Superbike at this track. Hopefully, this time we will have more luck than last time in Barcelona, so that we are spared from technical problems like it was there in qualifying. Nevertheless, our objective remains modest. We want to improve on Barcelona and, if all goes well, move up a few positions. I definitely will do my best to achieve this goal. Finally, thanks to Mr. Michael Bahnmüller from Champions Lubricants, who is also supporting us this weekend.”
