After an impressive eighth place last Sunday in Aragón, Superbike rookie Jonas Folger moved over straight to Portugal.

Despite having endured initial difficulties, Jonas Folger and his German outfit Bonovo Action / MGM Racing Performance Racing made a remarkable debut as permanent entry to the World Championship with production-based 1000cc bikes. A daring tyre poker in the second main race at the season’s opening round last weekend paid off fully, as the 27-year-old German took almost two-thirds of the highly competitive class by surprise and ended up with a top-ten finish at virtually the very first opportunity. The target for the second meeting of the season at the Estoril circuit not far from Portugal’s capital Lisbon is now to establish himself further in this series.

#94 Jonas FOLGER (Bonovo Action MGM Racing, BMW M 1000 RR):

“I am delighted that it is going to continue straight away with the next race weekend. After the pleasingly outcome last Sunday, I am incredibly happy to be able to continue without a break and of course I want to take the momentum with me. So, the start to the weekend should be a little easier here than last time. I do not know Estoril just from our wildcard appereance in World Superbike Championship last October because I have been racing in several 125cc Grand Prix here before.”

“I like the track layout very much and riding the Superbike here I immediately felt comfortable with this track again. Nevertheless, I am already curious how this track is to ride with the BMW. All in all, another interesting task awaits us. But I feel ready for it. I also count Estoril among my favorite tracks. Apart from that, it will be important that we start well and keep improving so that we can establish ourselves further in this class.”
