In the second main race of the WorldSBK round in Burgundy, France, Jonas Folger fought his way up from 20th position to 16th.

For Jonas Folger and his Bonovo Action / MGM Racing Performance team, Sunday morning at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours got started solid performing during warm-up. In this short session, the BWM rider grabbed 15th place.

Folger had to tackle the Superpole race later in the morning from the seventh row. It began for the 28-year-old German in much the same way as the first main race of the weekend on Saturday afternoon, when he initially slipped back one position to P20. On the second lap Folger recovered one position and two laps later he managed the overtaking manoeuvre for P18. Although he was able to gradually catch up with those in front of him in the final laps, Folger ultimately finished in P18.

As a result of Superpole race results, Folger again had to start race two far down the order. In this race, too, he again struggled to find a strong rhythm in the opening laps. It took him until the middle of the race to work his way up to 17th position. In the final laps he managed to increase his pace again and made up another position. Although Folger was able to catch up with the top 15 by the time the black-and-white chequered flag came out, he ultimately finished just over a second behind 15th place in sixteenth after 21 exhausting laps.

Superpole-Race: P18 / Race 2: P16

“In the races I had difficulties especially in the first laps when the tank was still full. I did not manage to keep the line at corner entry, so I could not attack either. Things went better in the last third of the race, which was the best part of the race for me. In addition, it was positive that I set my fastest time on the last lap in both the Superpole race and in the afternoon.”

“We definitely need to find out why we are having these difficulties with a full tank. I am also looking at what I might have to do differently in terms of my riding so that I can ride the BMW Superbike in a better way. Overall, it was another difficult weekend for us. We will now analyze everything and I will compare exactly what I personally can do better. Hopefully things will then go uphill at the next race weekend in Barcelona.”
