#IDMSuperbike: To crown IDM 2020 with title

For Jonas Folger, his first championship win in IDM Superbike is practically ready to be picked up this weekend.

Jonas Folger has already won titles in German Minibike Championship three times. In an international racing series, however, he has been denied such success thus far. This is to change this Sunday because the 27-year-old rider from Mühldorf in Upper Bavaria will enter the season’s finale at the Hockenheimring as the superior overall leader of the IDM Superbike after six victories in a row this season. His successful wildcard entry in Superbike World Championship, most recently in Barcelona, was a good warm-up for Folger and his crew of the MGM Yamaha Racing Team for the task ahead.

“After our successful excursion to Superbike World Championship last weekend, we are particularly highly motivated for our challenge at the IDM season’s finale. So, the objectives are clear and simple: In Hockenheim we want to win the championship. Unfortunately, the weather is expected to be very rainy and cold this weekend. That could make things perhaps a bit more difficult because I have never ridden our IDM Superbike in the wet. Nevertheless, there should not be much left to win the title, because we are going into the last races with a good points advantage. But I want to finish my adventure in IDM Superbike in style and to be on the podium again this time, best of course in both races. The conditions are always there to ensure that it will be a great weekend with a fitting end to this season, but no serious mistakes should be allowed to happen. In any case, I am already looking forward to the upcoming task of winning my first championship title in many years. By the way, the last time I was at Hockenheim was back in 2007. So, it will take a few laps on Friday to know where to go again.”
