Jonas Folger finished twelfth in the second main race at the Circuito de Navarra and thus collected a total of six important points this weekend after a long dry spell.

Over the course of the entire weekend at a track, which was new to WorldSBK and not far from the northern Spanish town of Logrono, Jonas Folger and his Bonovo Action / MGM Racing Performance team were able to make steady progress. With the second-best result so far this season in the second race on Sunday afternoon, the weekend ended on a high note.

After a difficult start to the Superpole race in the morning, Folger initially dropped down the order to 21st place, but gradually got into better and better shape and was already in 17th position by the halfway point. He was able to make up another place by the time he crossed the line in P16.

In the second main race on Sunday afternoon, the 28-year-old Bavarian rider again lost a few meters at the start but was quickly back up to 16th place and then continued moving forward. By lap two he already was racing in the points in P15 and after 22 laps saw the black-white-chequered flag in twelfth place - his second-best result of his rookie season so far, which has been difficult, after he crossed the line eighth in the second race at Aragon in May.

Superpole-Race: P16 / Rennen 2: P12

“The Superpole race was quite good. But unfortunately, the start did not work out. Every time this weekend we had problems with the clutch, which had a strange response. This hurt doubly because the Superpole race itself went well, and our pace was really strong from the second half on. Towards the end I got better and better, even if the cooler conditions helped us a little. Although it was not enough for points, this performance was encouraging. In the second race in the afternoon, things did not go optimally at the start again.”

“But at least the lap times over the entire distance were appealing and my pace was reasonably consistent. Twelfth place is not where we want to be, but we achieved our goal for this weekend. To finish in the points twice is good after all the bad luck lately. I also stayed crash-free and got a lot of riding in this weekend, which is important for confidence. But until the next race we have a difficult task to solve, namely, to fix the problem with the clutch.”
