Jonas Folger wants to find a way moving forward this weekend at the WorldSBK premiere at the Spanish Circuito de Navarra.

After the debut race of FIM Superbike World Championship two weeks ago in Most, the series is once again pitching its tents at unfamiliar territory. Like the Championship’s visit to the Czech Republic, the Circuito de Navarra in northwest Spain has been added to the calendar at very short notice.

The 3.9 kilometres long circuit is located in a beautiful landscape about 60 km southwest of Pamplona and a two hour’s drive from Bilbao. The area is world-renowned for Spain’s most famous and flavourful red wines. Jonas Folger and his Bonovo Action / MGM Racing Performance team had the opportunity to get to know to the Circuito during a test last June. After the setbacks of Most, the ambitious team wants to get back on the fast track and score the long overdue points at the seventh meeting of the season for all the hard work since the beginning of this project.

#94 Jonas FOLGER (Bonovo Action MGM Racing, BMW M 1000 RR):

“Unfortunately, Most did not bring the hoped-for turnaround either. So, another big challenge awaits us in Navarra. After a two-day test two months ago, the track is fortunately not completely new to me, and we also already have useful data that will hopefully help us in the extended FP1 to work out a useful setup right away and develop a feeling for the track. Still, it will not be easy at all. I have to find the feeling and confidence for the bike again. First and foremost, it concerns the front, where it is most lacking after the crashes in Assen and Most.”

“Navarra has an interesting layout. There are a few challenging sections with blind corners. But the surface is getting a bit long in the tooth. In many places it is very bumpy out there. The bumps are quite critical, especially in braking zones. You have to know them well and ride around them and choose the braking point exactly. Nevertheless, I am hoping that we can improve this weekend and find a way forward. In the races we finally have to finish in the points again. There is nothing more important than points scoring results at the moment.”
