Jonas Folger wants to take the next step towards more consistent performances at this weekend’s WorldSBK round in Magny-Cours, France.
FIM Superbike World Championship has a very varied race calendar in store for the summer months. After the series’ debut races in Most and Navarra last month, round eight of the season at the challenging 4.4 kilometres long circuit in the region of Burgund is another familiar circuit for most teams and riders.
WSBK rookie Jonas Folger has also already collected important race kilometres at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. A detour with his Bonovo Action / MGM Racing Performance team to the opening race of the French championship just over a year ago should prove helpful this weekend in further improving on the results recently achieved in Navarra, Spain.
#94 Jonas FOLGER (Bonovo Action / MGM Racing Performance, BMW M 1000 RR):
“Magny-Cours was a pretty unknown place for me until a year ago. But at the beginning of August 2020, we competed in a round of the French championship with a wild card. It was my first race weekend with my current team. From a sporting point of view, this effort paid off with two podium finishes, each time in third place. We were also able to gain good race practice for the IDM season, which starts just one week later. I liked the Circuit de Magny-Cours right away, it’s a beautiful and modern facility.”
“Furthermore, with a view to the upcoming weekend, we can be glad that we have made this trip. The track layout is very demanding with many different corners. There is a very long straight, fast and flowing sections, as well as stop-and-go passages - Magny-Cours really has a bit of everything. Hopefully we are able to benefit from our track knowledge and get a good start to the weekend so that we can quickly get to grips with this circuit on the BMW Superbike. The set-up of the bike is not easy at this track. Nevertheless, I want to build on the results from last time in the races and maybe even manage to finish in the top ten.”
